LOCATION:

The Odra and Nysa Łużycka valley, starting from Guben to Eisenhuttenstadt, of total length approximately 24 km. The refuge enters the Odra riverbed by the mouth of the Nysa at km 542 and extends up to km 553, of length 11 km.

AREA:

603,17 ha.

DESCRIPTION:

It contains floodplain areas, mainly within the limits of the Odra and Nysa Łużycka embankent with the remnants of riverine forests preserved, oxbow lakes and hay meadows of various types.

HABITATS:

Meadows and pastures (Alopecurion, Calthion), reed communities, willow-poplar gallery forests and elm-ash forests, spring vegetation and streamside tall herb fringes.

Maculinea nausithous, Misgurnus fossilis, Lampetra fluviatilis, Lampetra planeri, Aspius aspius, Rhodeus sericeus, Cobitis taenia, Cottus gobio, Bombina bombina, Lutra lutra, Castor fiber.
