33. Dolina Odry między Czelinem a Kostrzynkiem (The Odra Valley between Czelin and Kostrzynek)

LOCATION:

    Along the Odra valley, between Czelin and Kostrzynek (along km 640-660).

AREA:

    Approximately 1500 ha.

DESCRIPTION:

    The floodplain Odra valley 20 km long, in some places over 1 km wide. Almost wholly covered by reed communities, oxbow lakes, the Odra riverbed and riverine forests. The fragments of lowland hay meadows present here are extensively exploited or become overgrown because of abandonment of farming practicies.

HABITATS:

    eutrophic lakes (oxbow lakes), willow-poplar gallery forests, lowland hay meadows (Alopecurus pratensis), eutrophic tall herb [**].

BIRDS (NATURE):

    Philomachus pugnax, Porzana porzana, Botaurus stellaris*,

FISH:

    Misgurnus fossilis (KB II), Barbus barbus (HD V). Silurus glanis (KB III)

PLANTS:

    Cidium dubium (RB cat. V)

COMMENTS:

    In a part of the area there is a ecological ???ground??? "Kostrzyneckie Rozlewisko" (746, 23 ha., 1993) suggested to be transformed into a faunistic nature reserve of area 560 ha. The stretch protect part of important bird area of European rank (E-IBA Poland 010) of area 45 000 ha. (together with D±bie Lake), 120 km long, along the Odra valley from Kostrzyn to Zalew Szczeciński (Szczeciński Bay).
