24. Wróblin Głogowski

MOTIVES:

LOCATION:

12 km along the Odra valley from Wróblin Głogowski to Drogomil (at km 394 - 412).

AREA:

Approximately 500 ha.

DESCRIPTION:

A refuge containing a meadow complex with advantage of unfertilized grasslands with fluctuating water level (on the left side of the Odra, north-west of Copperworks Głogów) and a disjunctive complex of riverine forests, spreading between Wróblin Głogowski and Drogomil, including 8 km of the Odra valley on the river terrace within dikes extending from dozens of meters to 1 km wide. The forest complex is fragmentated, developed alternately on the left and right bank of the river, with vast clearings covered by hay meadows out of Alopecurion - 32.8 alliance.

HABITATS:

On the terrace - riverine elm-ash forests Ficario-Ulmetum - 44.41 and their regenerative stages - 44.1, in the surrounding of oxbow lakes (22.13) and ditches - sedge and reed communities (Magnocaricion - 53.21 and Phragmition - 53.1), higher - communities of unfertilized grasslands with fluctuating water level (Cnidion - 37.31 and Alopecurion - 38.2).

OTHER ANIMAL SPECIES:

Silurus glanis (KB III).

PLANTS:

Lathyrus palustris (RB cat. V), Cnidium dubium (RB cat. V).

COMMENTS:

The present condition of the refuge may be disturbed by meadow-overgrowing (the neighbouring village is situated in the protection zone Copperworks Głogów and its inhabitants were expeld), planned reconstruction of the Odra riverbed and tree-cuttings on the Odra terrace within dikes for the antiflood purpose.

COMMENTS:

It requires further detailed investigation.
