LOCATION:

AREA:
DESCRIPTION:
The area of great natural value, with the area of Międzyodrze corresponding to it on the Polish side. There are numerous, highly differentiated types of habitats; from those directly connected with the floodplain Odra valley to the lime-sycamore slope forests and orchid’s beech forests developing on steep slopes. It results in a huge richness of flora and fauna.
HABITATS:
Oxbow lakes and eutrophic lakes, streamside vegetation, psammophilous grassland and xerothermic subcontinental steppic grasslands, grasslands and meadows out of a compound of Cnidion and Alopecurion, eutrophic tall herb fringes, acidphilous beech forest (Luzulo-Fagetum), neutrophilous beech forest (Asperulo-Fagetum) and orchid’s beech forest (Cephalanthero-Fagion), eutrophic oak-hornbeam forests and, lime-sycamore slope forests, ash-alder forests, willow-poplar gallery forests and elm-ash forests, supra-mediterranean oak woods.

PLANTS:
Apium repens (HD II), Salvinia natans (KB I).
RARE AND PROTECTED:
Stipa capillata, Stipa pennata, Gentiana cruciata, Orchis tridentata (Ex in Poland).
COMMENTS:
The area protected as national park. A part (Polder 10 A/B) protected within Ramsar convention. The area of Międzyodrze is its direct continuation, hence in the 80’s a conception of creating a common bilateral (transboundary) national park emerged. The idea has not been realised so far - probably due to the plans connected with development of navigation and reconstruction of the lower Odra riverbed on the Polish side.
