22. Łęgi Borkowskie Gołkowickie (Borkowskie Dry-ground Forests)

MOTIVES:

  1. Number and codes of habitats 6 (3150, 6410, 6430, 6510, 91E0, 91F0)
  2. Bird species (BD): 10
  3. Other species: 3 (2 - HD II, 1 - KB III)

AREA:

    SAC

LOCATION:

    From Wojszyn (about 4 km east of Głogów) to the mouth of the Barycz river (it extends about 2 km along this river), then upstream the Odra river to Droglowice; along km 374-385.

DESCRIPTION:

    Riverine forests in the Odra valley, disjunctive complex, developed alternately on the left and right bank of the river, around 11 km long, together with wet meadows and sedges.

AREA:

    Approximately 1000 ha.

HABITATS:

    On the terrace - riverine elm-ash forests Ficario-Ulmetum - 44.41 and willow-poplar gallery forests Salici albae-Populetum - 44.132 and their regenerative stages - 44.13, in local depressions - large sedge communities Magnocaricion - 53.21, higher - unfertilized grasslands with fluctuating water level (Molinion - 37.31), intensively used pastures and lowland hay meadows (Alopecurus pratensis).

BIRDS BD:

    Pernis apivorus (6 pairs), Milvus milvus (3-5 pairs), Grus grus (6 pairs); Cygnus cygnus, Dendrocopos medius (numerous), Ciconia nigra, Picus canus* (numerous), Dryocopus martius * (numerous), Ixobrychus minutus**, Botaurus stellaris**, Alcedo atthis.

THE RED BOOK:

    Phalacrocorax carbo (cat. O).

RARE AND POTENTIALLY ENDANGERED:

    Mergus merganser, Anas querquedula.

OTHER ANIMAL SPECIES:

    Misgurnus fossilis (HD II), Bombina bombina (HD II), Silurus glanis (KB III).

COMMENTS:

    The refuge may be in danger due to a planned regulation steps in the Odra valley and tree-cuttings on the Odra terrace within dikes for the antiflood purposes.
