19. Wielki Be³cz

MOTIVES:

  1. Number and codes of habitats 7 (3150, 6410, 6510, 6430, 91D0, 91E0, 91F0)
  2. Bird species (BD): 14.
  3. Animal species: 10 (HD II - 2, HD IV -2, HD V - 2, KB - 4).
  4. Plant species 3 (KB I -2, HD V -1).

AREA:

    SAC, SPA

LOCATION:

    The Odra’s stretch along km 342-370.

AREA:

    Approximately 2200 ha.

DESCRIPTION:

    The area 28 km long and 1-2 km wide, mostly on the river terrace within dikes, only in two points (near Be³cz Wielki and between Bieliszów and Lubów). It contains mostly open areas, of a small mosaic structure of biotopes, hence it constitutes the area particularly important for flora and fauna of the open riverine grounds.

HABITATS:

    Elm-ash forests, willow-poplar gallery forests and ash-alder forests, sedges, floodplain hay-growing meadows, lowland hay-growing meadows (Alopecurus pratensis), tall herb fringes, plant communities of eutrophic lakes (oxbow lakes), small pieces of swamp alder woods Ribo nigri—Alnetum (near Bieliszów).

BIRDS (BD):

    Grus grus, Picus canus, Dendrocopos medius, Circus aeruginosus*, Milvus milvus, Milvus migrans, Ciconia nigra, Botaurus stellaris*, Porzana porzana, Alcedo atthis, Haliaeetus albicilla (feeding ground), Pernis apivorus, Lanius collurio, Crex crex.

ANIMALS:

    Bombina bombina (HD II), Misgurnus fossilis (HD II), Martes martes (HD V), Castor fiber (HD V), Vipera berus (KB III), Hyla arborea (KB II), Rana ridibunda (KB III), Silurus glanis (KB III), Rana arvalis (HD IV), Lycaena dispar (HD IV),

OTHER RARE AND PROTECTED SPECIES:

    Apatura ilia, Papilio machaon, Brenthis ino, Clossiana selene, Dorcus parallelopipedus, Argyope bruennichi.

PLANTS:

    Trapa natans (KB I), Salvinia natans (KB I), Galanthus nivalis (HD V),

PROTECTED:

    Nuphar luteum, Nymphaea alba, Viburnum opulus, Convallaria majalis, Frangula alnus, Epipactis helleborine, Primula veris, Hedera helix, Platanthera bifolia, Ribes nigrum.

COMMENTS:

    It requires further detailed investigation.
