15. Dolina Jezierzycy (The Jezierzyca Valley)

In a wide postglacial Odra valley, along km 320-327, on the left bank, 1-7 km off the riverbed.
AREA:
DESCRIPTION:
A refuge distinguished on the base of a close vicinity of three complexes of plant communities from Annex 1, functionally related by a common hydrological system. It is located on the border of Obniżenie Ścinawskie and Wzgórza Trzebnickie and contains the area limited by the villages Dębno - Wodnica - Moczydlnica Klasztorna - Kretowice - Wrzosy - Rudno (detailed borders require further investigation). The whole area is protected as Landscape Park "Dolina Jezierzycy" (The Valley of Jezierzyca) of total area 8899 ha., constituing - as far as wetland is concerned - a biocenter of this habitat.

HABITATS:
48 plant communities, including: swamp alder woods Ribo nigri-Alnetum 44.9112. and their degenerative stages - 44.9, ash-alder forests Circaeo-Alnetum, - 44.3341 and a elm-ash forest Ficario-Ulmetum campestris - 44.41. They are accompanied by many other plant communities mentioned in Directions FFH - including phytocoenoses of Magnopotamnion and Hydrocharition - 22.13, Magnocaricion - 53.21 and Phragmition - 53.1. On the deforested areas in higher locations, the communities of hay meadows (Arrhenatheretalia) 38 and and unfertilized grasslands with fluctuating water level (Molinion - 37.31, Calthion 37.2) developed;

Haliaeetus albicilla, Ciconia nigra, Dendrocopos medius, Porzana porzana* (also other species locally rare, e.g. Tringa ochropus, Botaurus stellaris*)

, Listera ovata, Gentiana pneumonanthe, Gladiolus imbricatus, Asarum europaeum, Centaurium erythraea, Cetraria islandica, Convallaria majalis, Dactylorhiza majalis, Dactylorhiza incarnata, Daphne mezereum, Dianthus superbus, Galium odoratum, Hedera helix, Nyphaea alba, Listera ovata, Phallus impudicus, Ribex nigrum, Viburnum opulus, Vinca minor. Full floristic list of nature reserve "Wrzosy" (Macicka-Pawlik, Wilczyńska 1995) counts 473 vascular plant species.
PROTECTION STATUS:
A part of the area is protected as nature reserve "Uroczysko Wrzosy". The projected nature reserve "Trzęślicowe (Purple Moorgrass) Meadows by Dębnica" (area - approximately 40 ha.). A suggested nature reserve "Jezierzyca" (Bobrowicz, Konieczny 1999), area - 30 ha. for protection of a natural lowland river and surrounding ecosystems.
DANGERS:
The area partly endangered by drainage in the valley of the river Juszka, with which basin is connected hydrologically and through its synanthropisation. Meadow communities are mostly abandoned, in the wet sites advanced succession stages of willow scrub and reeds occur.
