LOCATION:

Upper stream of the Odra river (along km 75-22 according to the Czech kilometrage), the beginning nearby the Odry town, the end within the administrative borders of Ostrava.

AREA:

Approximately 5000 ha.

DESCRIPTION:

The upper part of the Odra river-bed; at present entirely within the confines of the Landscape Park (ChKO "Pododrí"). The landscape is partly transformed by fish farming and herding, but thanks to them the area has been enriched with many additional anthropogenic habitats (such as: extensively-managed fish ponds and hay meadows), which are occupied by rare and valuable flora and fauna components of river valleys).

HABITATS:

Alder-ash forests, alder swamp woods, alluvial meadows belonging to Molinion and Alopecurion communities, eutrophic oxbow lakes, elm-ash and willow-poplar forests.

BIRDS (BD):

Dendrocopos medius, Gallinago gallinago, Alcedo atthis.

OTHER ANIMAL SPECIES:

Barbus barbus (HD V), Chondrostoma nasus (KB III), Alburnoides bipunctatus (KB III).

PLANTS:

Galanthus nivalis (HD V), Trapa natans (KB I), Salvinia natans (KB I),

RARE AND PROTECTED:

Nymphaea alba, Nymphaea candida, Nuphar luteum, Nymphoides peltata, Utricularia australis, Epipactis albensis, Aruncus dioicus.
